How to Spend 4 Days in Krabi – The Perfect Itinerary

Table of Contents

Krabi is one of the most visited destinations in Thailand and it’s no wonder why – the place is filled with unreal landscapes. Being one of the country’s largest provinces, putting together an itinerary for just a few days here can sometimes get overwhelming – there are way too many things to do!

So we created the perfect 4-Day Krabi Itinerary for you: a mix of beach days, adventures, culture, and boat tours with a sprinkle of great restaurant suggestions.

Note: this itinerary considers 4 full days in Krabi. If you have even more days in Krabi, make sure to check out our Top 17 Most UNIQUE Things to Do in Krabi post.

Day 1: Railay & Phra Nang Beach

On your first day, let’s go classic! Surrounded by high limestone cliffs and only accessible by boat, Railay Beach is a hippie paradise and one of the must-dos in every Krabi itinerary.

☀️ Morning: make your way to Ao Nang Beach, where you’ll hop on a traditional longtail to Railay Beach. We recommend you start your day here with either an adventurous hike to Railay’s Viewpoint and the Princess Lagoon (read this guide before you go) or some rock climbing experience!

Cost: The 10-minute boat ride from Ao Nang to Railay costs 200 Baht (around 5.40 EUR) for a return ticket and we recommend purchasing tickets at the official ticket office. Make sure to check the latest return time.

😎 Afternoon: After this little adventure, head to the Walking Street to grab some lunch at Local Thai Food (location here). Make sure to try their Pad Thai, vegetable rolls, and fried dumplings – super yummy!

Now for the rest of your afternoon, some beach therapy at Phra Nang Beach is in place – don’t forget to check out its peculiar Princess Cave! Slightly after sunset, make your way back to Ao Nang.

🌙 Evening: Ao Nang at night is quite lively! There is one main road and it’s filled with stores, restaurants, and bars. We recommend a stroll around here before dinner at Jungle Kitchen, where we recommend the local curries.

If you’re up to extending your night, we recommend Tribe Beach Bar for some nice cocktails and light partying. For a full The Hangover vibe, join the Krabi Pub Crawl.

Day 2: 4-Islands Tour

Krabi is home to landscapes that look straight out of an Avatar movie and you’re visiting most of them on your second day!

These beautiful islands are usually visited on what they call the 4-islands cruise, and despite being extremely popular – it’s popular for a good reason. The sights are surreal and, even after months and months of travel in Thailand, this is still one of our favorite experiences in the country!

⛵ The itinerary for this day will depend on the tour you book, but in any case, it’ll most likely be a full day out on a boat. We highly recommend the 5-Islands Sunset Cruise by Krabi Sunset Cruise (dinner is included and it’s delish!).

Day 3: Hot Springs, Emerald Pool & Tiger Cave Temple

Hidden in the mystical jungle of Krabi’s Nature Reserves is a series of freshwater ponds and hot springs that are probably some of the most fun places to visit aside from the beaches in the area. For this day, you can either rent a scooter or join a tour, but this is what the itinerary will mostly look like either way:

☀️ Morning: prepare for a 1 to 2-hour ride to a hot waterfall. Krabi Hot Springs is considered the only hot waterfall in Thailand with water flowing all year round. The waterfall is not big but has a few natural hot tubs where you can sit and relax in 35-42°C water that comes from volcanic chambers.

Cost: You can rent a scooter for as little as 200 Baht per day in Krabi and expect to spend around 80 Baht in fuel to get there and back.

Hot tip: If you’re driving, try to leave your hotel in time to arrive at the waterfall at 8:30 AM. You’ll most likely be the first one there and will be able to enjoy the springs before the tours arrive.

After a relaxing dip, make your way to the Blue Lagoon & Emerald Pool, just 10 minutes away. Located in a Nature Reserve, the park is home to a 2.7-kilometer-long nature trail that leads you through forest, waterfalls and streams, and crystal clear lagoons.

The Emerald Lagoon, also known as Sa Morakot, is the only spot in the reserve where you’re allowed to swim, so enjoy its natural turquoise blue water to cool down!

At around 10 AM, you can also visit the Blue Lagoon which is an impressive phenomenon: a deep blue pool supplied by a hot underground spring, with temperatures reaching up to 50° C, a quicksand bottom, and a high mineral deposit that causes its peculiar hue.

You are not allowed to swim here, and there is always a guard around to ensure it, but you can clap your hands loudly to see bubbles coming from the bottom of the hot spring!

Cost: The entrance fee is 200 Baht per adult and 100 Baht per child.

Hot tip: pack some snacks with you if you have opted to drive all the way here. There are a couple of restaurants outside of the park but you can’t go out for lunch and then back in again.

😎 Afternoon: once you’re done swimming around in crystal-clear water, prepare for a 1-hour ride back to Krabi town, where you’ll climb 1260 steps to watch the sunset from the beautiful Tiger Cave Temple (read this guide before you go).

Note: besides some comfortable shoes, you should still be mindful of temple etiquette and dress appropriately to respect the site’s cultural and spiritual significance.

The most popular tour to the Tiger Cave Temple is a full-day trip that includes a visit to the Emerald Pool and the Hot Springs of Krabi. This tour is perfect for those who don’t have much time in Krabi and want to see as much as possible in one day.

🌙 Evening: since you’re already right next to Krabi town, make a quick stop for dinner at Krabi’s Night Market (location here) for some of the cheapest and most delicious street food before heading back to your hotel.

Day 4: Hong Islands Tour

A boat trip to Hong Islands is one of the most amazing things you can do in Krabi! This small group of islands is known for its impressive limestone formations, stunning Emerald lagoon, and glorious beaches. We dare say Hong Islands are just as beautiful as Phi Phi Islands with the advantage of being far lesser known by tourists.

⛵ The itinerary for this day will also depend on the tour you book, but just like the 4-Islands Cruise, it’ll most likely be a full day out on a boat. This is the tour we did and we highly recommend it, but if you want the place all to yourself, arranging a private longtail tour is the best option. Once on Hong Island, make sure to hike to the stunning viewpoint!

Cost: a National Part Fee of 300 baht is required to visit the Hong Islands, and should be paid in cash to the tour operator.

🌙 Evening: time to pack your bags and check underneath your bed – the famous sock’s black hole, before saying goodbye to Krabi!

Krabi Travel Tips

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Krabi is from December to April when the weather is mostly dry and sunny, with March and April being the hottest months and December to February being the busiest.

The rainy season is from August to October, which is also when you’ll find the best discounts. We wouldn’t recommend visiting Krabi during this time of the year due to the sea conditions getting too rough.
