We’re 5 days away from our trip (and officially getting super nervous!). It’s so hard to translate the feeling into words! We just keep thinking how weird it will be not to have a routine, not to worry about our jobs, and not to rush things on the weekends so we can get most of the content done for the week… Honestly? Can’t even fathom what this new life feels like.
We know that it will be exciting, but we have never experienced anything similar before so it feels like trying a new food for the first time: it looks good but you have no clue what it tastes like, and you can’t wait to try it! Are we even making any sense?!
Anyway! This past week we freaked out a bit realizing how many things we still want to do before saying goodbye to this little paradise, so we planned a last-minute trip to Gozo Island for the weekend and it was a blast! (FYI: Gozo is Malta’s little sister island for those who don’t know).

We’ve been to Gozo several times before but never during summer and now we have no idea why we haven’t done this before! The island is so special: local people are nicer than on the main island of Malta, the streets are cleaner, the food is cheaper and the beaches are unreal. It should be a must-do when spending summer in Malta.
Our first time in Gozo was also our very first time shooting with our new camera. We had just bought it and to try it out we decided to do a quick trip to the island in February, in the middle of the winter… Terrible idea. To top the experience, we used public transportation (not the most reliable), got a super cheap room (freeeeezing cold!), and hiked most of the island… under the sun, rain, and strong winds. We’ll never forget it but well, the whole experience felt more like a survival camp than anything else lol
our first trip to Gozo

when we fell in love with Gozo
We changed this perspective when our friend came to visit us from Abu Dhabi and we took him on a car trip to the island during Spring. Oh, it was right then we fell in love with Gozo!

this summer
But this time during summer… just take a look for yourself:

We hired a quad to explore the island (super recommend it!) and at some point, we had such a view of Malta that we stopped for a minute and took in the realization that we lived in paradise for almost two years. How hard it is to appreciate things when you’re worried about basically everything else (or scrolling on your phone instead of going out – we’re guilty of that too!).
A Maltese follower so kindly let us know that there was a traditional Matelse Village Feast happening that night in Gozo, so of course we joined the party too!

Speaking of everything else, tomorrow is Bruno’s last day working and Nick finishes on Friday. Leaving our jobs is, no doubt at all, the hardest decision we ever made, and since you seemed so curious to know how Nick got her remote job, we created this guide: How to Find a Remote Job that lets you Travel the World, to help you find the freedom you want!
Now speaking of freedom lol Today is a holiday in Malta so of course, our day was packed – we’re taking the “saying goodbye to paradise” very seriously indeed. And here’s a bit of what we were up to:
turkish breakfast
The sofa we’re sleeping on is also from a Turkish – Merhaba, Egemen! – so Carol and him took us to a Turkish restaurant to try their traditional breakfast. It’s more like a feast than anything else, and it is delicious!!

And since we’re leaving next Monday, our next weekly will be from SRI LANKA! Are you ready for this??? We’re more than ready! So if you still don’t follow us on INSTAGRAM, do GIVE US A FOLLOW, and let’s hop on this journey together!
