There is no visiting peninsular Malaysia if you skip Cameron Highlands! Perched high on a nest of serene mountains, this conglomerate of townships is surrounded by lush valleys of emerald tea plantations and strawberry farms. The cold climate and peaceful cloudy days make Cameron Highlands the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

We only had 3 days to visit Cameron and luckily Avillion Cameron Highlands could accommodate our dates during the school holidays and in one of the countryβs most popular tourist destinations! Hereβs our honest review of this stay.
Avillion Cameron Highlands
Location
Avillion Cameron Highlands is situated in Tanah Rata, the largest township and the main hub for public transportation in the highlands. The hotel is located right in the city center, close to the start of a few hiking trails and a mere 1.8 km from Cameron Bharat Tea Estate.

The Rooms
Avillion Cameron Highlands offers 100 suites ranging from spacious Superior and Deluxe studios to two-bedroom suites and Premium two-bedroom suites. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite which is the one we will focus on in this review.

The suite has such a homey vibe to it that we canβt really put it into words, it just feels like a cozy space to rest and relax on a rainy day while sipping some local tea and watching the rain pour.

It is really spacious for a couple only, measuring 72 m2 and featuring a Master Suite with a King-size bed and a separate second bedroom with twin beds. It also counts with a living room, a dining area, a balcony, and a kitchenette. From our balcony, we could watch the most beautiful sunsets! We definitely recommend getting the west side rooms.

In-room amenities include television and cable TV as well as an electric kettle and complimentary coffee and tea. The furniture seems very new and the space is well-decorated, including the bathrooms. A hair dryer, a safety deposit box, an ironing set, and a small fridge are also at your disposal. Room rates here start at 60 euros a night for a studio and 105 euros a night for a two-bedroom room.

The Space
At Avillion Cameron Highlands, you will find The Daun Restaurant, four meeting rooms, and a central open area with a playground.

Free WiFi is available throughout the resort and free parking is also provided.
The Food
Breakfast is served daily at The Daun from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM in a buffet setting and it is mostly Asian. Fruits, cereals, and toasts are also available as well as freshly made omelets. American breakfast can also be served in the room upon request.

The restaurant has a modern ambiance but feels very cozy! Lunch and dinner are also offered at The Daun and our main recommendation here is the Steamboat session, also known as hotpot. It costs around 10 euros per person and it is a must-have when in Asia, and more so when in a cold location such as Cameron Highlands.

Note: we base our ratings on same-level accommodations in similar locations, therefore weβll never compare a Hostel in Asia with a Hostel in Europe or a guesthouse with a 5-star resort.
Conclusion
We loved our stay at Avillion Cameron Highlands and wish we could have stayed longer! There are so many things to do around this area and coming back to a cozy place at the end of the day is everything you need and we think this hotel provides exactly that.
The only downside is that hot water doesnβt last long so you have to keep your showers nice and short (good for the environment but hard on our hair-washing days).
The value for money is good and all in all, we canβt wait to be back!
